Get a new device the right way
- Ledger’s official store, or a reseller in Ledger’s official directory, in your own country.
- Not the seller you doubt. Not second hand. Not the airport shop you can’t check.
- Keep the suspect device powered off. If you lost funds, it is evidence: police and Ledger first.
2
New seed, generated offline
- Set up the new device as new. Let it generate the 24 words.
- Write them on the blank card it comes with. Never type them into a phone, a computer or a website, including this one.
- Never reuse the old 24 words. If the old device was compromised, those words are gone.
3
Order of moves
- Stablecoins first: they lose least to timing.
- Then the rest, chain by chain, largest balances first.
- Send a small test transaction before each large one.
- Sign every transaction from the new device. Don’t connect the old one again.
4
After
- Report the seller in the alert registry with your photos, so the next buyer sees it.
- Keep the receipt and the box label: they help the police and Ledger trace the batch.
