Before you open the box
- Compare the seller with Ledger’s official directory (step 1 of the check does it for you).
- Compare the price with the official store. Tampered units in the case were sold at close to half price.
- Photograph the box label and the seal before breaking it.
2
The box
- Seal intact, no cuts, no second layer of film.
- No glue residue on the box edges or on the device shell.
- The recovery sheet is blank. A pre-filled sheet means someone already knows the words: never use it.
- Nothing extra in the box: no card with a QR code, no “activation” instructions, no pre-written PIN.
3
First boot
- A new Ledger offers to set it up as a new device.
- If it asks for a PIN, it was already configured by someone else. Stop. Do not type anything.
- Genuine Check in Ledger Live checks the Secure Element. The LTE implant leaves it intact, so a pass does not clear the device.
Ledger’s guidance after the case: “Do not initialize unused devices.” If anything above is off, don’t power it on.

Weight (indicative)
Official weights from the spec sheets, read 2026-10-14: Nano S Plus 21 g · Nano X 34 g · Nano Gen5 46 g · Flex 57.5 g · Stax 44.2 g. Kitchen scales, cases and batteries vary; a compact implant can weigh under a gram. Use it as one more signal, not a verdict.
